5 Tricks to crack group discussion(GD)
Making a good impression while
speaking in meetings or interviews is the basic skill every professional should
have. Let’s see 5 most impressive tricks.
1. Who
should Initiate/conclude the GD?
Initiating
the GD is a big plus. But keep in mind – Initiate the group discussion only
when you understood the topic and have some knowledge.
Speaking without proper subject knowledge is bad impression.
Even who
concludes gets an advantage. So be smart and grab the chance, there are many
who are the race to initiate.
2. Whom
you should look at?
Do not
look at the evaluators/HR. Keep eye contact with every team member while
speaking. Your eye contact shows your confidence.
3. What
to speak, how much to speak?
Some
basic subject knowledge is sufficient. No need to mention exact figures while
giving any reference. You have limited time so be precise and convey your
thoughts in short and simple language.
Stick to
the topic. Take initiative to bring the discussion on the track. Make all group
members aware that you all need to come to some conclusion at the end of the
discussion.
Do not
speak just to increase your speaking time. Don’t worry even if you speak less.
Your thoughts should be sensible and relevant instead of irrelevant speech.
4. What
if you are not prepared?
If you
are not much aware about the topic, pay attention while others are speaking
and frame their lines in your own word.
Search
for them who are not speaking, point them to provide their suggestion, but don’t
wait for them to speak.
5. How
to be dressed?
You should be comfortable while speaking in group. Positive gesture and body language will make your work easy. Be in formals.
